Hold Off Saving Parade Spots at UNC Until July 2

Until July 2, the University of Northern Colorado will remove materials used to save spots for watching the Greeley Stampede Fourth of July parade to allow crews to maintain the landscape along 10th Avenue with necessary mowing and watering.

Beginning July 2, parade-goers may use tape, ribbons, rope or string anchored by stakes, landscaping pins, or temporary water-based field-marking paint approved for turf applications when saving spots along the east side of 10th Avenue between 16th and 20th streets. Tarps and similar items that distress grass should be avoided and will be removed and left along the curbs where they were found for owners to retrieve.

Tarps, especially clear ones, clear plastic sheeting, sleeping bags, heavy blankets and similar items will damage and possibly kill grass in a few days or sooner because they restrict the amount of water and oxygen the grass gets. Parade-goers are welcome to bring such items to sit on the day of the parade and should take the items with them after the parade.

Please note that saving spots is on the honor system and the university can't guarantee the availability of saved spots on the day of the parade. For those viewing the parade, remember that alcohol in open containers is prohibited on campus.
